Montoso Loop

Gravel Ride in the Caja del Rio. Perfect day for some backcountry exploring on gravel bikes. This is the Montoso Loop on our very own Caja Del Rio Plateau. It’s a bit further to the northwest than we usually go and requires a 7-mile drive in on Santa Fe National Forest Road 24. The old jeep roads are easy to find, but it’s way out there. We saw no fresh tracks on any of the roads, so be prepared. You are completely on your own, although it’s close enough to town to have cell service in some places. There is a phenomenal view of the Rio Grande Valley at Pueblito Tank. GPS Track here.
